On the 20th June, 2016, RedBite joined guests from over 47 countries at the Royal Festival Hall, London for the second HyperCat Summit and the launch of Hyperspace. The evening was a huge success with a wide array of issues being discussed that are already changing and will continue to transform the way we live and work.
RedBite’s Chairman, Professor Duncan McFarlane was one of seven speakers that participated in the section of the evening focused on transforming the way we work. An interesting debate ensued over the role of automation, the consequential impact on the role of people alongside automation and what the priorities of automation should be.

We are collaborating with Costain, A-one+ and Highways England to create Smart Highways. Smart Highways are enabled thanks to our RedBite Asset technology and are designed to improve the efficiency and convenience of managing, monitoring and maintaining challenging highway assets. RedBite Asset is currently being used on a stretch of the A160 in Immingham to manage the maintenance of various assets which include lamp posts, road signs and gullies.
We have worked closely with Costain over the past year to provide a tailored solution to meet their specific needs and we recently joined some of the Costain team up in Immingham to assist with the deployment of the technology.
RedBite CEO, Dr Alex Wong submitted his grand idea “Building stories: one bit at a time” for the COINS Construction Industry Grand Challenge. The idea is centred on the principle of creating buildings that can provide live, historic and crowdsourced data that paints an accurate and full picture of a building’s energy usage over its lifespan.
On December the 8th, 2015, Alex joined fellow Coins Construction Industry Grand Challenge finalists at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at The University of Cambridge’s Magdalene College.
